Ho, June 24, GNA – Mr Benjamin Komla Kpodo, the Member of Parliament (MP) for Ho Central Constituency, has urged Senior High students to make Coronavirus safety protocols part of their lifestyle.
« I urge you to observe the protocols and make them part of your way of living and don’t think it is an imposition, so that in the end we will overcome the disease, » he stated.
Mr Kpodo said this when he presented some assorted items to all seven public Senior High Schools in the Ho Municipality, to stem the spread of the novel coronavirus.
The beneficiary schools are; Mawuli School, Mawuko Girls Senior High, OLA Senior High, Sokode Senior High Technical, Taviefe Senior High, Tanyigbe Senior High, and Shia Senior High.
He said the items, which included nose masks, liquid soaps, hand sanitizers and Veronica buckets were part of the 10,000 package of items he launched a few weeks back.
The MP said the gesture was to support efforts by the Ministry of Education at preventing the spread of the virus in Senior High Schools, adding that plans were afoot to provide similar support to private Senior High Schools in the Municipality.
Mr Kpodo urged the students not to allow the pandemic to dampen their spirit and diminished their hard work towards success in the upcoming West Africa Senior High Schools Certificate Examination.
He observed that not all items promised by the government to support Senior High Schools in the fight against the COVID-19 were delivered to the Schools within the Ho Municipality.
The MP described the situation as « alarming » and called on government to ensure that the rest of the items were provided to secure the safety of the students.
Mr Raphael Amenyo, Ho Municipal Director of Education who received the items on behalf of the schools, was grateful to the MP for the support.
He said the Directorate was determined to ensure that all the necessary mechanisms were put in place to protect students and staff against the virus.
