Tempane (UE) Dec. 14, GNA – The Tempane Senior High School (SHS) in the Upper East Region has been closed down following student’s agitations.

The third year students on Tuesday refused to write their third term examination and prevented the first and second year students from taking their lunch.

They said they wanted the suspended Headmaster of the SHS reinstated.

Mr. Dominic Ndegu Amolale was suspended after a campaign visit to the SHS by the National Organizer of the National Democratic Congress (NDC), Mr. Joshua Akamba.

They would not be persuaded by the explanation of the Assistant Headmaster that Mr Amolale was going through the right processes.

Mr. Azumah Abugri, the Tempane District Chief Executive (DCE), told the Ghana News Agency (GNA) that the decision to temporarily shut the school down was to prevent any student disturbances and the destruction of property.

It followed a meeting held by the School Management with the Regional Minister, Madam Paulina Abayege, and the District Director of Education.

Mr Abugri said a Committee would be set up to examine all the issues.

The first and second year students would return to school on Monday to continue with their examination.
