GPL Preview: Top four race heats up, RTU and King Faisal eye survival

  15 Juin      72        Sport (12736),

Accra, June 15, GNA – With the 2021/22 Ghana Premier League title already clinched by Kumasi Asante Kotoko, there is still a lot to play for heading into the final day of action this coming weekend.

Six teams, including Hearts of Oak, Great Olympics, Legon Cities, Karela United, AshantiGold SC, and Berekum Chelsea, would battle it out for the last top-four spot.

The Phobians have been dreadful in their past three matches, having lost all three, and have a difficult game against Real Tamale United (RTU), in Accra on Sunday.

RTU are eagerly battling for survival and would need maximum points against Hearts to ensure survival, while the Phobians would be hoping to finish in the top four with a win.

Karela United, who currently occupy the fourth spot on the league table, would host WAFA at the CAM Park in Aiyinase.

The Academy Boys need all three points to stand any chance of staying up in the league, and the odds should be in their favour having won 2-0 during the last visit in last season’s league.

Eleven Wonders, who were promoted to the league in 2017, would have to win against Aduana Stars to have any chance of survival as they are currently third from the bottom.

King Faisal have their survival faith in their own hands as they lock horns with Legon Cities, who are also eyeing a top-four spot. King Faisal would need at least a draw against the « Royals » who are unbeaten in five matches.

Great Olympics would strongly fancy their chances against relegated Elmina Sharks, as they quest for a top-four position.

League Champions Asante Kotoko would play their last game of the season against Accra Lions, who maintained Premier League status a few weeks back.
