Over 2000 Homes To Benefit From Pres. Weah’s Power Token In Grand Gedeh

ZWEDRU, Feb. 6 (LINA) – Over 2000 eligible households are expected to benefit from electricity token in Grand Gedeh County.

The electricity token is a priority initiative of President George Manneh Weah as a stimulus support to the people of the county.

According to a communication to Jerry Karr, the Revenue Protection Officer of LEC Cross Border project in Grand Gedeh County; signed by Adolphus Scott, acting Director/Rural Electrification and Cross Border, the project is implemented by LEC in collaboration with the Ministry of Finance and Development Planning.

The communication further revealed that the Government’s stimulus support is a US$20.00(Twenty dollars USD) energy token for one month which covers the month of February 2021.

However, at the Headiffice of the Liberia Electricity Corporation (LEC) in Zwedru on Friday, the Revenue Protection Officer Karr told the Liberia News Agency (LINA) that over 2000 active customers stand to benefit from the energy token.

Karr further said that the recent gesture from the government of Liberia has greatly motivated many customers to speedily settle their arrears so as to benefit from the token for the month of February.

He mentioned that the Grand Gedeh grid begins from Tapitta in Nimba County to Grand Gedeh County.

« This is an appreciable gesture from the president and citizens are expressing satisfaction since we announced the support, » Karr said.

Grand Gedeh County is among many counties in Liberia benefitting from the Cross-Border Electrification Project.

Many customers in the county have expressed difficulties in meeting up with bill payment over the years due to the hash economic impact being experienced.

The recent energy support of US$20.00 for the month of February paid by the government has brought relief to the citizens.
