MONROVIA, June 12 (LINA) – In an effort to reduce its overloaded docket of over 200 cases, the Supreme Court of Liberia has assigned five cases for argument on Wednesday, key among which is a motion to dismiss a petition filed by the Government of Liberia through the Ministry of Justice against Atlantic Resource.
The motion is a result of questions regarding the constitutionality of the ratification of the Forest Management Concession Contract for Area « F » by the National Legislature in favor of Euro Liberia Logging Company.
It can be recalled that the high court had already adjudicated several cases on the motion calendar dismissing most of them.
The court will also listen to arguments in a petition for cancellation of a lease agreement filed by Salem Juidi against Mrs. Marlene Grimes of the U.S.
According to the assignment signed by Attorney Sam Mamulu, acting Clerk of the Supreme Court, the court will hear arguments in a petition for revocation of a letter of administration filed by Charles R. Johnson, Jr. and others against Jessie S. Payne, Sr.
The other two cases will be a bill of information and a petition for specific performance.
The high court began the March Term of Court with 246 cases on its docket, some of which have already been disposed of.
