Accra, June 25, GNA—Dr Richmond Adjei-Yeboah, Head of the Medical Department of the Quantum Medical Centre and Eye Clinic, has called on Ghanaians to be conscious of their health to stay healthy and contribute to national development.
He expressed concern that many people worked under harsh conditions and had poor eating habits yet, paid less attention to their health.
Dr Adjei-Yeboah made the call when Oasis of Joy International Fellowship held a free medical screening at the Kwame Nkrumah Circle in Accra.
Some of the diseases screened include malaria, diabetes, hepatitis ‘B’, eye screening, blood pressure and hypertension.
Dr Adjei-Yeboah said Ghanaians could only enjoy the fruit of their labour if they stayed healthy and strong and urged them to take their health issues seriously and live a healthy lifestyle.
He urged them to desist from self-medication and report ailments to a health facility at all times.
Prophetess Tina Essel, General Overseer of the Oasis of Joy International Fellowship, said the health screening formed part of the church’s social responsibility.
She said it was also to create awareness for people to be conscious of their health and know their health status.
Prophetess Essel said the church, apart from feeding the people spiritually with the word of God, saw the need to provide them with physical food, and urged the public to consume more fruits and vegetables to stay healthy.
