Bea Mountain Donates 25 KVA Generator, Others To Grand Cape Mount County Health Team

SINJE TOWN, July 19 (LINA) – The Bea Mountain Mining Corporation (BMMC) has donated a 25 KVA generator, two washing machines and two tumble dryers worth over US$14,000.00 to the Grand Cape Mount County Health Team.

 

Speaking during the donation ceremony at the headquarters of the County Health Team (CHT) in Sinje Town, the Community Relation Manager of BMMC, Henry Vincent, stated that the donation is in response to a request made a month ago by the Health Team of Grand Cape Mount to refurbish the treatment facility at the West Africa Health Organization Hospital in Bo Waterside.

 

According to the BMMC Community Relation Manager, the mining company got a generator, washing machines and tumble dryers for the facility so that those equipments as a means of making the treatment center more effective and efficient.

 

In addition to the donation, Vinvent disclosed that BMMC Management has also instructed engineers of the company to construct a fence around the treatment center and also build a placenta pit in the facility in order to safeguard the facility.

 

He described the Bea Mountain Mining Corporation as one of the strongest partners of the county in the fight against the virus, pointing to the numerous interventions the company has made since the outbreak of the disease.

 

Vincent assured the company’s continues support to buttressing the Government’s effort in combating the Coronavirus pandemic.

 

In separate responses, the Superintendent of Grand Cape Mount County, Aaron Vincent, and the outgoing County Health Officer, Dr. Netty Joe, lauded the BMMC for the donation, describing the gold mining company as a « true partner in progress. »

 

In remarks, the Chief Medical Officer of Liberia, Dr. Francis Kateh, told the management of BMMC that the Ministry of Health is grateful for the kind gesture, noting that the donation will help upgrade the health care given at the treatment center.

 

« What happened here is that when you have a partner in the county and that partner is able to work with you, it makes it easier for you, » Dr. Kateh said.

 

« Yes you are paying taxes to the government but at the same time you are working with the people that set you apart from many other private institutions, » the Chief Medical Officer of Liberia added.

 

Dr. Kateh, therefore, urged other business institutions in the country to emulate the good examples of the Grand Cape Mount County-based gold mining company.

 

Since the outbreak of the COVID-19 pandemic in Liberia, Bea Mountain Mining Corporation has being making several donations in the county and beyond.

 

During the early part of the outbreak, BMMC donated several sanitary materials to check points, health and prison facilities and several towns in and out of the county.

 

Prior to the latest donation, Bea Mountain Mining Corporation donated over 700 bags of 25kg rice in Grand Cape Mount, Bomi and Gbapolu counties.
