Bong Assistant Police Chief Urges Respect For Rule Of Law

GBARNGA, Sept. 20 (LINA) – Bong County Assistant Police Commissioner, Col. Fredrick Nepay, is urging youths and other residents of the county to always respect the rule of law and do away with violence.

Addressing a team of reporters in Gbarnga recently, Col. Nepay said as the December 8 2020 Mid-term Senatorial election draws closer, residents of Bong County, especially young people, must learn to obey the rule of law by seeking legal redress during conflicts or disputes.

According to him, the perpetration of violence by young people ahead of the December Senatorial election has negative consequences for the society and the fragile peace Liberians currently enjoy.

Even though the Police Chief said that peace and stability in the county has improved, he cautioned that the unwholesome act of young people raining insults at each other and state officials on radio talk shows and Facebook posts has negative « trickle down effects » on serenity in the society.

« Prior to the 14-year civil conflict in the country, young people always held their elders and state officials in high esteem. Remember that everything one does, he or she will get the reward in the future, » he warned the youth.

Meanwhile, Col. Nepay is encouraging residents of the county to take advantage of the Liberia National Police Professional Standard Division when they have an issue against any police officer and wish to seek redress.

This, according to him, will help to cement the relationship between police officers and peaceful citizens.
