Praia, Dec 17 (Inforpress) – Cabo Verde has 509 patients transferred to medical treatment in Portugal, entitled to monthly income subsidies, valued at more than 30 million escudos, in an “enormous government financial effort with considerably improvement in accommodation”.
The Minister of Family and Social Inclusion, Fernando Elísio Freire, made this information known to the press after a visit to the External Evacuations Service Office, in Plato, where he “highlighted the treatment, the form and the speed of the procedures”, with the creation of national social protection centers in Sotavento and Barlavento, exclusively for medical transfer issues.
He recalled that before, patients transferred for treatment in Portugal received only 17 days of subsidy and, henceforth, the Embassy of Cabo Verde in Portugal and the services in Cabo Verde give an appropriate treatment to the process involving 509 Cabo Verdeans outside the social contribution system and 161 companions.
“This demonstrates well the importance we give to this matter. All of this is a huge financial effort by the Government of Cabo Verde. And in the last State Budget, through the Rectifying Budget 2020, we increased this amount by another 7% ”, explained the government official, for whom it is a very strong job with the citizens.
