Philippino, 40, Sent To Court For Alleged Attempt To Sodomize Liberian, 22

  5 Février      47        Justice (1672),

GANTA, Feb. 4 (LINA) – Police in Ganta, Nimba County have arrested, charged and sent to court a 40-year old Philippino for allegedly attempting to sodomize a 22-year old Liberian motorcyclist.

Michael Maraha was arrested on Tuesday, February 2, and taken to the Ganta Police depot following a tussle between him and 22 year old Spencer Zuo who complained that Michael attempted sodomizing him in his hotel room.

Making the disclosure to newsmen on Tuesday, LNP Ganta Detail Deputy Commander, EO Dellin Fayiah, said the accused during police preliminary investigation admitted committing the act and said, it is his way of life.

According to EO Fayiah, defendant Michael stated that he is a bisexual who can

have sex with women and men and also allows men to have sex with him.

Fayiah explained that suspect Michael Mahara, who was lodging in a local hotel in Ganta was, following LNP investigation, charged with the crimes of ‘Attempt To Commit Rape and Sexual Harassment’, and forwarded to the Gompa Magisterial Court for prosecution.

Explaining his ordeal to journalists at the Ganta Police Depot, complainant Spencer Zuo said while sitting and waiting for his motorbike which was being washed, Michael came and sat beside him and asked him to become his friend, something which, he said, he agreed to without knowing Michael’s true motive.

« I went to wash my motorbike at Guinea road junction and while sitting down waiting for my bike, one white man came and sat near me and said he wanted me to be his friend and when I agreed he started asking me how much I report daily and how much a brand new motorbike costs in Ganta.

“After answering all his questions, he took out money from his wallet and showed it to me and later asked me to follow him to his hotel, which I consented to as a businessman, » Spencer explained.

According to him, when they arrived at the hotel, Michael asked him to enter his hotel room because it was in his room that he had the money to pay his transport fare, but he refused, saying he needed to rush quickly to get something for his

big brother.

Spencer said Michael then asked that they exchange numbers because he would want Spencer to take him around town later.

« After a little while, he called and said I should come to him and when I arrived, he called me in his room where he had on rated X movies and told me to take bath, but I refused.

“He then brought out a huge amount of money and told me that he wanted to have sex with me, but I told him that I can’t allow another man to do such a thing to

me, » Spencer further narrated.

He said it was at that point that Michael jumped on him, tore his clothes and attempted to sodomize him, but he overpowered him and shouted for help.

« That’s how I started shouting and jumped outside and people came around and luckily for me, some police officers who were passing by came and arrested him, » Spencer said.

Meanwhile, Spencer is calling on the Government to deal with the matter with fairness as, according to him, he is a poor motorcyclist who does not have the financial capacity to « fight » the case all by himself.

He is also calling on his fellow citizens to assist him in whatever way they can to enable him hire lawyers to plead his case, noting that if nothing is done in the case, it could affect other helpless citizens and the culture of impunity will become the order of the day.
