Rep. Cole Seeks Support To Complete US$45k Projects

GBARNGA August 1 (LINA) – Bong County District Three Representative, Josiah Marvin Cole, is seeking cash and material support from government, private institutions and individuals to renovate ELRG station in Gbarnga, Bong County.

The project, according to Rep.Cole, is estimated at US$45,000 and is aimed at helping to promote government’s rural development, including education, agriculture and health, among others, upon completion by November this year.

According to the Bong County district three lawmaker, the project, while it will promote government’s rural activities, has also provided security for community dwellers in the LPMC Road Community in Gbarnga.

« The community people told me that the building has always been used as criminal hideout, » he added.

Further lamenting the poor state of the ELRG, Cole disclosed: « We will secure a 5,000 kilowatts for the new facility, something which requires total renovation work at a cost of US$45,000, » he said.

Meanwhile, some community members, including Ma Haja Konneh, and the Chief Security at the facility, Mr. Borbor Fayiah, have lauded Representative Cole for the project and said, it will help to provide security for the community as well as provide job opportunity for young people in the county.

According to them, on many occasions criminals snatch their cell phones and break into their homes, especially at night hours, while some unscrupulous community members were using the facility for defecation.

They want government to rally around Rep. J. Marvin Cole to fast track the project for the benefit of the country.

ELRG is one of the first government rural broadcasting system that were established in three counties, including ELRV in Voinjama, Lofa County, ELRG in Gbarnga, Bong County and ELRZ in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh County, respectively.

The 14-year civil unrest left behind devastation of these public facilities as well as schools, but the CDC-led government headed by Pesident George Manneh Weah in its first six-year term has embarked on massive renovation and development, including roads across the country.
