ZWEDRU, June 2 (LINA) – The Alumni Association of St. Philomena Elementary and Bishop Juwle High School in Zwedru, Grand Gedeh based in the United States of America has donated 300 metal chairs and assorted educational materials to the school.
Making the presentation in Zwedru recently, the Chairman of the Association Grand Gedeh Branch, Maxwell Juwor, called on the school authorities to ensure that the donations are used for the intended purpose.
Juwor said the association hopes that the donation will support the government in its quest to strengthen the educational sector of the country.
‘The way you manage these chairs and other items will encourage our friends in the Diaspora to support us more,” he said.
Receiving the items, the Principal of the Bishop Juwle High School, T. Shadrick Teah commended the association for the gesture, and assured the donors that the items will be used for the benefit of the school and pupils.
Teah disclosed that the recent donation is one of the much needed assistance given to the institution since its establishment.
Teah recalled the past support given by the Association to include payment of stipend for teachers during the Ebola period, provision of Scholarships for the most needy students in 2016, sponsoring of Gala-Day activities at the school in 2018 and the recent donation of 300 chairs and assorted school materials to the school.
The St. Philomena Elementary and Bishop Juwle High School Alumni Association was established in 1975 to support education, meet welfare and needs of members and prop the human resource development agenda of the school and the educational system.
