Accra, June 30, GNA – The police in Assin Fosu has seized large quantity of leaves believed to be marijuana and taken into custody 23 suspects.
Also found on them, were a locally manufactured pistol, live cartridges, a motorbike, two tablets of tramadol and cash of GH¢2,533.00.
Deputy Superintendent of Police (DSP), Irene Serwa Oppong, the Assin Fosu Divisional Police Public Relations Officer, said this followed a special exercise mounted to bring down crime.
The Divisional Commander, Chief Superintendent Lawrence Abakah, led the exercise and she said this was going to continue.
The police were determined to do everything to rid the municipality of drug peddlers and other miscreants.
DSP Oppong said they would go after criminals to enable the law-abiding to go about their daily activities without fear.
She called for the people to cooperate and assist the police in the crime fight by flagging up criminals in their communities.
She also encouraged the formation of neighbourhood watch committees to complement the effort of the police.
She warned criminals to reform in their own interest or face the full force of the law.
