Tumu (UW/R), June 09, GNA – SAVE-Ghana, a non-Governmental Organization working in the Upper West Region has donated some personal protective equipment (PPE) meant to fight COVID-19 in the Sissala East Municipality.
The items given to the Municipal Health Management Team to fight the spread of the pandemic, included two gun thermometers, 150 disposal nose masks, 300 hand gloves, and 39 bottles of hand sanitizers.
Mr Dintie Tayiru Sule, the Executive Director of SAVE-Ghana, said the gesture was a form of appreciation shown to all the health workers in the Municipality who were helping to fight the spread of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“We have seen that our health workers are doing very well to fight the novel coronavirus. They have laid down their lives to work on our behalf and on that score, we say well done,” he said.
Meanwhile, the Programs Manager of SAVE-Ghana, Mr Moses Batong also underscored the need for the Municipal Health Directorate to continue working and brush off the several false accusations levelled against them by a cross-section of the public.
He reiterated the NGO’s readiness to continue to support health workers to fight the novel corona virus.
The NGO has also launched a radio programme dubbed, “the people must know” aimed at educating the public on how government and MMDAs expend COVID-19 funds meant to fight the global pandemic in Ghana, and sought to increase public awareness on the need for public participation in the mobilization of efforts and resources in the fight against COVID-19.
