House Speaker Chambers Appoints Committees Heads, Deputies

MONROVIA, Feb 2 (LINA) – The Speaker of the House of Representatives, Bhofal Chambers, has appointed several committee members of that body to perform for the remaining three years as lawmakers.

As per the House’s rules and procedures, the Speaker is clothed with the responsibility to appoint Chairs and Co-chairs of all Committees of that body.

Rules 7.4, 7.5 and 7.6 of the House of Representatives state that, « The Speaker shall appoint the Chairpersons and Co-chairpersons of Statutory

Committees and 7.4 says he shall Appoint the Chairpersons and Co-chairpersons of Statutory Committees while 7.5 talks about him to Appoint members of Statutory Committees in consultation with the House’s Leadership.

And 7.6 deals with the Appointment of the Chairpersons, Co-chairpersons and Members of Standing Committees in consultation with the House’s Leadership.

Speaker Bhofal Chambers named Sinoe County District #1 Representative Crayon Duncan as Chair on Foreign Affairs, replacing Bomi County District #1 Representative Edwin Snowed and Margibi County District #2 Representative Ivar Jones as Co-chair to that committee.

Others are Montserrado County District #8 Representative Acarious Gray and Grand Bassa County District #2 Representative Mary Karwor as Chair and Co-chair on the committee on Executive, while Gbarpolu County District #2 Representative Kanie Wesso and Lofa County District # 5, Beyan Howard as Chair and Co-chair on the Judiciary Committee, while the committee on Ways, Means and Finance he named Montserrado County District #5 Representative Thomas Fallah and Sinoe County District # 3 Representative Matthew Zarzar as Chair and Co-chair.

Chambers also named Nimba County District# 9 Representative Johnson Gwaikolo and Grand Gedeh County District # 2 Representative George Boley as Chair and Co-chair of the committee on Education.

As for the Committee on Health, he named Nimba County District #3 Representative Joseph Somwarbi and Lofa County District # 2 Representative Julie Wiah as Chair and Co-chair.

He named Grand Cape Mount District # 3 Representative Emerson Kamara and Bong County District # 4 Representative Robert Womba as Chair and Co-chair of the Committee on Transport, while for the Committee on Commerce, Nimba County District # 5 Representative Samuel Kogar and Montserrado County District # 14 Representative Abraham Conneh were named as Chair and Co-chair.

Grand Bassa County District # 4 Representative Vincent Willie and River Gee County District # 1 representative Alexander Poure were also named as Chair and Co-chair on the House’s Committee on Lands, Mines and Energy, while Montserrado County District #14 Representative Abu Bana Kamara and Montserrado County District #4 Representative Rustonlyn Dennis became Chair and Co-chair on the Hydrocarbon Committee.

For the committee on Banking and Currency, Montserrado County District #16 Representative Dixon Seboe and Montserrado County District #17 Hanson Kiazolu as Chair and Co-chair.as well as, Nimba County District # 2 representative Prince Tokpah and River Gee County District #1 representative Francis Young as Chair and Co-chair on the House’s Committee on Agriculture.

Grand Gedeh County District # 3 Representative Alex Grant and Margibi County District # 3 Representative Ellen Attoh -Wreh as Chair and Co-chair of the State -Owned Enterprises Committee, while the committee on Claims and Petition gets Nimba County District #4 Representative Gunpue Kargon as Chair and Co-chair.

For the committee on Gender Equity and Children Protection he named River Cess County District # 1 Representative Rosana Shaack as Chair.

Meanwhile, Speaker Chambers has urged his colleagues to work patriotically in the interest of the Liberian people.
