SINJE TOWN, Jun. 8 (LINA) -Normal learning at Tahn Vocational Institute in Gola Konneh District has come to a standstill after reports that teachers at the institute are planning a go-slow.

According to the aggrieved teachers, prior to the opening of the institution, it was agreed that the Government would provide the technical support, while the Bea Mountain Mining Corporation will provide the financial support.

The aggrieved teachers disclosed that since they started teaching the company is yet to contact them to sign their contracts, and that over months now they are yet to be paid.

They added that the company’s failure to allow them sign their contracts is the reason behind their planned go-slow.

This news has, however, caused discontent among students of the Bea Mountain- run Vocational Institute.

The students disclosed to newsmen that since this news broke out on the campus, there has been no good learning atmosphere at the institution.

They are therefore calling on the management of the mining company to address the concerns of the teachers as the problem might have an adverse effect on them..

When contacted, the Administrator of the school, Gbanja Seh, confirmed the planned go-slow action, while he registered his regret over the situation.

He added that as a new institution such news has the propensity to undermine the progress of the institution.

Mr. She, who applauded the efforts made by the company, at the same time stressed the need for them to do more for the enhancement of the quality of learning at the Institute.

Meanwhile, the Management of the Bea Mountain Mining Corporation through its Community Relations Superintendent, Henry Vincent, has disclosed that the company has heard the concerns of the aggrieved teachers and is taking prompt action to address them.

According to Superintendent Vincent, since last week the management has been working to address the concerns of the aggrieved teachers.

« Currently as we speak the salaries for the teachers are being prepared and by this weekend they will receive it, » Superintendent Vincent assured the aggrieved teachers.

He called on the teachers to continue their good work as the company is preparing their salaries.
