  22 Octobre      68        Santé (15398),

Munya (Niger), Oct. 22, 2019 (NAN) The Society for Family Health (SFH) says 92,800 households in Munya Local Government Area of Niger state will be provided with Long Lasting Insecticidal (LLIN) mosquito nets .

The News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) reports that the distribution of treated mosquito nets would commence on Nov. 9 and every household is expected to use the net cards issued to them to collect theirs.

Mrs Sylvia Okeh, Coordinator for LLIN mosquito net Campaign in Munya, disclosed this in an interview with NAN in Munya on Tuesday in Munya, North Central Nigeria.

She said that 45,694 net cards had so far been issued to households across 11 wards in the council; adding that a total of 92,800 net cards were expected to be issued out at the end of the mobilisation campaign.

Okeh explained that some of the wards’ supervisors had challenges accessing four wards in the council as a result of the insecurity in the areas.

The coordinator listed the areas to include; Mangoro, Gogope, Toko and Jerri in Kabulla ward, Shapai in Sarkin pawa ward, Kamache in Kazai ward and Kubi in Beni ward.

“Prior to the mobilisation, we had an advocacy visit to the security agencies especially the council chairman of the local vigilant group to help provide security for our team members.

“But I am happy to announce that as at this morning, we received report that our team were able to access the areas with the help of the police, military and vigilante groups,” she said.

Mr Samuel Malachi, Roll Back Malaria Focal Person in Munya, said about 66,400 net cards out of the 92,800 have been given to wards supervisors in the council for mobilisation.

Also, Mr David Barde, Director, Primary Health Care in Munya, identified insecurity as the major challenge encountered in some wards during the household mobilisation process.

He commended the security agencies for their support towards ensuring a hitch free mobilisation process in the council.
