Lagos, Aug. 25, 2022 (NAN) A Ghana-based company, Guzakuza says its 2022 Women in Agribusiness Awards will recognise 35 African women in the agribusiness space.
The Founder, Ms Nana Adjoa, announced this to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN) in a telephone interview on Thursday in Lagos.
She said that African women were doing a lot in the agriculture space as such, their hard work should be recognised and rewarded.
Guzakuza is a company dedicated to touching lives by growing women Agripreneurs, new generation of graduates, wealthy farmers and healthy organic food.
Adjoa said that the 2022 Women in Agribusiness Awards, the second in the series, would be part of a week-long celebration slated to hold in Greater Accra, Ashanti and Northern Regions from Oct. 24 to29.
“We have launched the 2022 Women in Agribusiness Awards to recognise and celebrate women blazing the African agribusiness trail.
“Last year, we received close to 1,000 nominations from all over Africa and mainly from Nigeria, South Africa and Ghana.
“A Nigerian won in the five categories. This is our own way of spreading the amazing work of these women,” she said.

The Programme Coordinator, Women in Agribusiness Week, Mrs Akosua Duah, in a message, noted that women were doing a lot in agribusiness.
She say that though agriculture played a vital role in African economy, yet a lot of people were yet to embrace it.
“In the past one year, we commenced an award scheme to highlight and celebrate the achievements of exceptional women who had led the way for others to follow in the agribusiness community.
“Last year, five women who are leaders in African agribusiness were rewarded for their achievements in the following categories: Agtech Innovation, COVID-19 Agribusiness Resilience, Dare to defy, sustainable green innovation, and the role model excellence.
“We have new and revised categories this year to appeal to a wide range of trailblazers from the various points of the agric value chain and network,” Duah said.
