Accra, June 10, GNA-Mr. Emmanuel Azimey, Deputy Director of Agortime Ziope District Assembly, has commended World Vision Ghana for its commitment to development and human transformation.
« We are happy you chose to implement some of your innovative development and human transformation interventions in the district, » he said.
According to him, « just within two years, the district has begun to feel the impact of World Vision’s interventions in the areas of education, water and sanitation, and child protection, among others. »
He made this commendation when World Vision Ghana’s National Director, Dickens Thunde, paid a courtesy call on the Assembly as part of activities to mark his three-day working visit to the Agortime Ziope Area Programme.
The visit was also to familiarize himself with the operations of World Vision in that region and to interact with stakeholders, partners, and beneficiaries.
It also offered him an opportunity to assess the impact of World Vision’s activities on the lives of the communities and also get first-hand information about the challenges facing communities and the area office’s operations.
He was accompanied by the Integrated Programme Director (IPD), Grace Kargbo, and Communications Manager, Washington Nuworkpor.
Mr. Azimey said, the campaign against child marriage, the introduction of reading clubs, child protection sensitization, and other interventions had begun to contribute to the reduction of child marriages as well as improve child education in the district.
« Your (World Vision) coming into the district is God-sent, » he expressed and pledged the district’s continuous support to World Vision to improve water and sanitation, child education, nutrition, as well as community transformation in the district.
Through innovative programmes and activities, World Vision is working to better the lives of 3.5 million most vulnerable children in Ghana.
The organization addresses the vulnerabilities and deprivations of children, women, and communities through an integrated development approach and focuses on the most essential thematic programme areas, namely; Water, Sanitation, and Hygiene (WASH), Household Food Security and Resilience (HFSR), Primary Healthcare and Nutrition, Education, Humanitarian Emergency Affairs and Security (HEAS), Child Protection and Advocacy, and Child Sponsorship.
Mr. Dickens Thunde, on his part, thanked the Assembly for its immense support for World Vision. He said that World Vision is committed to addressing issues concerning vulnerable children, women, families, and their communities to bring about human transformation and seek justice for the oppressed in society.” World Vision Ghana is working with the poor and oppressed to bring about human transformation, seek justice as well as be witnesses to the kingdom of God, he said.
He urged the Assembly to take advantage of the organization’s presence to improve the well-being of their people.
The Integrated Programme Director, Grace Kargbo, said World Vision’s interventions were complementing the assembly’s efforts and therefore called for sustained collaboration between the Assembly and World Vision to change lives.
« We want to ensure that by 2025, we are able to contribute to the sustained improvement of the wellbeing of 3.3 million children and empower communities in Ghana, especially the most vulnerable. » We will do that through our strategic programmes and partnerships, « she added.
