Angola and Philippines sign memorandum of political consultations

Luanda – A memorandum on political consultations was signed Monday in Luanda between the Republics of Angola and the Philippines, as part of bilateral cooperation.

The document was signed by the Secretary of State for Foreign Affairs, Esmeralda Mendonça, and by the Philippine ambassador to Angola, Célia Anna Feria.

According to secretary Esmeralda Mendonça, the memorandum is a mechanism for promoting bilateral dialogue, focusing on regional and international issues.

She referred that, within the framework of cooperation, synergies will be developed so that more areas that can be exploited and capitalized on, which could have repercussions on a substantial increase in the volume of trade.

She suggested that in the light of this legal framework, a roadmap should be established which, in addition to political matters, includes issues in the economic field, such as the sharing of experience between Angolan and Filipino businessmen.

The Philippine ambassador suggested that this consultation mechanism will improve relations, including facilitating cooperation between institutions in the two countries, including commercial, technological, cultural and social ones.

Angola and the Philippines have had formal diplomatic relations for 21 years.
