COC awarded “Olympic Values” trophy and “Certificate of Recognition”

Praia, Nov 12 (Inforpress) – The president of the International Olympic Committee (IOC) awarded this afternoon the Cabo Verdean Olympic Committee with the “Olympic Values” trophy, which was also awarded the “Certificate of Recognition” by joining the Olympic movement in 1993.
Thomas Bach made this award at the Cabo Verdean Olympic Committee (COC) headquarters in Praia, during his first visit to the country, underlining the “dedicated way” the COC has represented the Olympic values, “in an extraordinary way, hard work ”and which systematically meets the Olympic ideals.
The head of the world’s largest sports organization expressed his satisfaction that “Cape Verde is a small country, but with a big heart for sport and Olympic values”, claiming that this was the motto why he made this visit to the archipelago with a “very important delegation”.
He congratulated Cabo Verde and the COC on the “extraordinary and highly successful” holding of the 1st African Beach Games on the Sal Island, and the chairmanship of President Filomena Fortes on the IOC, claiming that it was “an excellent contribution” to the International Olympic Movement.
