Cairo, 06/02/2023 (MAP) – The Egyptian Middle East News Agency (MENA) wrote that Morocco has the best chance to win the honor of hosting the 2025 African Cup of Nations (AFCON 2025), given the magnificent stadiums and impressive infrastructure that the Kingdom has.

The agency points out that Morocco has submitted an excellent dossier to the Confederation of African Football (CAF) to host the AFCON for the second time in its history, knowing that the Kingdom is competing with Algeria, Nigeria, Benin and Zambia to organize the most important competition on the continent.

The same source added that 35 years after Morocco hosted the African Cup of Nations for the last time, the Kingdom is currently seeking to host the 2025 edition of the competition, recalling that Morocco has only hosted the Cup once in 1988.

The agency said that CAF is preparing to announce soon the name of the country that will host the Africa Cup of Nations in 2025, noting that the 2025 edition was to be held in Guinea, but CAF decided to withdraw the organization to that country because of the delay in preparations.

MENA adds that in addition to the Ibn Batouta Stadium in Tangier and Prince Moulay Abdellah in Rabat, which are currently hosting the FIFA Club World Cup 2022, the Moroccan file includes more stadiums to host the Africa Cup of Nations 2025.

He went on to say that the Grand Stade de Marrakech, located in the famous ochre city, is the 4th largest stadium in Morocco, as it can accommodate 45,000 spectators, recalling that this stadium was inaugurated in January 2011.

The agency says that the Moroccan bid for the organization of the African Cup of Nations also includes Agadir’s Adrar Stadium, which is one of the most important stadiums in the Kingdom and has a capacity of 45,000 seats, of which 10,000 are covered.

Inaugurated in November 2013, Adrar Stadium has hosted matches of the Club World Cup 2013 and CHAN matches.

The agency notes that the Moroccan bid to host CAN 2025 also includes the Grand Stade de Fez, which was designed according to authentic Moroccan architecture and can accommodate nearly 40,000 spectators.
