Accra, Sept. 14, GNA – Professor Peter Twumasi Director-General of the National Sports Authority (NSA) has said government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports (MOYS) has achieved an enviable record in the provision of sports infrastructure in the country.

Speaking at the inauguration of the Local Organising Committee (LOC) members for the hosting of Club Championship and National Championship tournaments in December 2021 and January 2022 respectively, he said, infrastructure development in sports was unprecedentedly in the history of sports development in the country.

“The government through the Ministry of Youth and Sports are doing a marvelous job. For instance, this Hockey Stadium was said to be collapsing some time ago, as it looked weak but today it is the nation’s Wembley when it comes to Hockey.

“The Theodosia Okoh, National Hockey Stadium has been completed and it would serve as the venue for both competitions and the Kumasi Stadium is almost done.,” he added.

According to Prof. Twumasi, the President Nana Addo Dankwa Akuffo Addo is doing his best to construct a multi-purpose stadium in every region, adding that work had begun in Navrongo, Yendi, and Takoradi.

He said the facilities would not only serve football, but other sporting disciplines in the country.

He commended the Ghana Hockey Association (GHA) for their hard work and urged them to continue doing a great job.

“GHA is a solid association, they have always survived, with or without funding. They keep pushing and I want to commend them for the great work,” he added.
