Abuja, Feb 14, 2019 (NAN) A faith-based organisation, Jama’atu Nasril Islam (JNI) and an ethnic group, Goemai Unity and Development Organisation (GUDO) are seeking partnership with the Industrial Training Fund (ITF) on empowering youths and women.
The two organisations during a courtesy visit to ITF on Thursday in Jos, North Central Nigeria said the partnership would address youth unemployment and boost economic activities in the state.
Mr Abdulkadir Garba, the Deputy Chairman of JNI in Plateau said the visit would also strengthen relationship with ITF in training youths and women on technical skills.
He said JNI was a critical partner in creating understanding and peaceful coexistence required for development in any society.
« We are available also to give advice and consultation on issues of peace and capacity building and implore ITF to empower more youths in our community in their various training programmes, « he said.
Also, Dr Theodore Maiyaki, the President of GUDO said with the collaboration, ITF would train selected persons in all Goemai communities with requisite skills, establish them with starter-packs.
Represented by Mr Edmund Attahiru, the Deputy President of the Group, Maiyaki said their vision was to facilitate more access to technical and vocational trainings for youths and women in rural areas.
« We want to train three or five persons in every Goemai community who will return to step down the training to their communities, we believe the gesture would also discourage drug addiction, « he said.
He said the group was working towards launching a N250 Million Trust Fund to establish a development center comprising a museum and library for Goemai artefacts, archives and research purposes.
In his response, Mr Joseph Ari, the ITF Director-General lauded GUDO for initiating the collaboration, saying it would reduce overdependence on white collar jobs.
He also promised to have more collaboration with JNI on technical trainings.
He said ITF was committed to empowering Nigerians with vocational and technical skills and ready to collaborate with associations capable of making Nigeria an industrialised state.
