Tema, July 4, GNA – The LCB Worldwide Ghana Limited, a Turkish company operating in Ghana, has officially launched a six-week pilot corporate league in Tema aimed at building a cordial relationship between participating companies.

The corporate league commenced on July 01, at the Prisco Park at Tema Community Four with eight companies including LCB participating.

The other participating companies were Wilmar Ghana Limited, Hillpok Limited, Pioneer Food Cannery, Nick Scan, the Fire Brigade of the Ghana Ports and Harbours Authority, Hot Jobs Africa, and Plan B FM.

Mr. Mustapha Mohammed, Facility Manager LCB Worldwide Ghana Limited stated at the launch, that during the six-week league, each team would play three matches in the group stages.

After which the top four would move on to the semi-finals, out of which the winning teams would then play in the finals.

The winning team for the league, according to Mr Mohammed, would receive a cash prize of GHC4,500.00 plus a trophy, while the first runner-up and second runner-up would respectively receive GHC3,000.00 and GHC1,500.00.

A golden boot and golden hand gloves would also be presented to the top goal scorer, and best goal keeper respectively, while all participating football players would be presented with a participation award.

Representatives of the companies agreed that organizations must be truthful to themselves by using only their workers to play the league noting that the practice where companies hire the services of professional footballers to play corporate league does not help in achieving the aims of the initiative.

Meanwhile, in the first round of matches, LCB lost two-nil to Hillpok, while Wilmar lashed Pioneer Food Cannery four goals to zero in group A.

Group B matches saw Plan B FM putting five goals into the net of Nick Scan who was able to cancel one, while GPHA Fire Brigade also handed over three goals to Hot Jobs who did not score any goals.
