Accra, Feb. 3, GNA- The Supreme Court has adjourned the hearing of the Election 2020 Petition to Friday, February 5.
Chief Justice Kwasi Anin Yeboah, who presided over the seven-member panel, adjourned the trial after himself and the other panel members had met one lawyer each from the contesting parties in chambers.
Earlier, Mr Tsatsu Tsikata, lead Counsel for the Petitioner, had indicated that they wanted to call another witness after earlier filing two witness statements for the substantive trial.
He said the third witness had some health complications and due to the confidentiality of the witness’ health issue, he would prefer the Court hear him in chambers.
According to Mr Tsikata, he had already discussed the issue with the two respondents’ lawyers.
The Court and one lawyer each from the respondents then retired to chambers and when sitting resumed, the matter was adjourned.
Mr John Dramani Mahama is in court challenging the validity of the declaration of Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo as winner of Election 2020 by the Electoral Commission.
He is also accusing the EC of vote padding.
The Petitioner has so far called two witnesses – Mr Johnson Asiedu Nketia, General Secretary of the National Democratic Congress and Dr Michael Kpessa-Whyte, a member of the Party.
