Adaklu Kpogadzi (V/R), Feb 21, GNA-The Adaklu District Assembly has presented 25 bundles of roofing sheets to victims of last Sunday’s rainstorm at Adaklu Kpogadzi in the Adaklu district.
The rainstorm, which displaced about 124 people ripped-up roofs of 30 buildings.
Mr Phanuel Kadey Donkor, Adaklu District Chief Executive, who presented the roofing sheets on behalf of the Assembly asked them to seek expert advice before rebuilding or rehabilitating their buildings.
He called on the people in the district to seek permission from the Assembly before erecting any structure.
The DCE also asked them to pay their property rates to the Assembly adding that those who failed to seek or pay their property rates would be prosecuted at the law court in the event of any disaster.
He said he would also not get any assistance from the Assembly.
Mr. Donkor said though 54 bundles of roofing sheets were needed after an assessment of the damage, the Assembly could only afford 25 bundles due to financial constraints as a similar incident occurred at Adaklu Avelebe also in the district.
The DCE used the opportunity to appeal to the people to develop the culture of maintenance and reinforce their buildings periodically.
Mr Nicholas Amanfu, Adaklu District NADMO Coordinator said his Organization would continue to marshal support for them.
Togbe Adzalo Amewugah, Dutor of the community who received the item on behalf of the victims was grateful to the Assembly and appealed to philanthropists and benevolent organizations to come to support.
