Praia, Oct 22 (Inforpress) – The Cabo Verdean international Ivan Almeida, who plays for the Anwil Wloclawek basketball team in Poland, suffered an injury and will be out for the national basketball team at the FIBA-Africa Wild Card tournament.
In this Sunday’s game, 18th, Aniwil Wloclawek (player’s team) against Twarde Pierniki Toruń, both from Poland, the Cabo Verdean international, Ivan Almeida suffered a fractured tibia, leaving the player out of competitions for some time.
In a statement to Inforpress by phone, Ivan Almeida confirmed he had fractured the tibia of his left leg, having some sprains in cruciate ligament and collateral, lateral ligament and some cartilage damage. According to the player, it is not known for sure how long he will be without playing, but he used social networks to thank all the messages of support he has received.
“Thank you all for the messages of support at this difficult time, I broke my fibula bone and had LCL & sprain; ACL, etc.. I won’t talk about everything. I know I will stand up to the occasion and come back stronger than ever as I have done before and repeatedly,” reads a post on the official Facebook page.
