Praia, Dec 13 (Inforpress) – Chessman Arlindo Barros, from Casa do Benfica da Praia, was the big winner of the 3rd National Absolute Championship, which ended Tuesday in São Nicolau and featured with eight finalists.
Arlindo Barros won the title on the final day of this “competitive” competition after passing Luis Fernandes, representative of Pineu Chess, from São Vicente, in the last round and taking advantage of António Monteiro’s defeat and David Anes’s draw.
According to the organization, the title of champion of the 2019 edition to Arlindo Barros was confirmed in a tiebreaker mini-tournament with Éder Pereira and David Anes.
Arlindo Barros outperformed his two competitors in both tie-breaking games by winning both matches, for the first time winning the national title by a club from Praia.
Final classification: Arlindo Barros (champion), David Anes (2nd), Éder Pereira (3rd), followedby Luis Barros and António Monteiro, Diogo Neves, Luís Fernandes and Márcio Santos.
