Jan 01, GNA – A total of 17 babies were born on New Year Day in four public hospitals in the Tamale Metropolis.
They are made up of 10 females and seven males.
The first new born baby boy was delivered at the Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) at 00:05 hours, while the Tamale West Hospital recorded the highest deliveries of seven new born babies including; a set of twins.
Mrs Salamatu Issahaku, a staff midwife at the Tamale West Hospital told the Ghana News Agency that out of the deliveries, four were boys and the rest girls.
She said both mothers and babies were all in good condition and would soon be discharged.
Madam Ajara Ahmed, a staff midwife at TTH said they recorded three boys and two girls and that the babies and their mothers were all doing well and had since been discharged.
At the Tamale Central Hospital, Hajia Hajara Yakubu, a Senior Midwife in-charge of the hospital’s Maternity Unit said they had recorded four deliveries, all females who were healthy and the Seventh-day Adventist (SDA) Hospital recorded one female and both mother and baby had been discharged.
All the deliveries were normal deliveries.
