GBARNGA, Jan. 21 (LINA) – The Bong County Project Management Committee (PMC) has officially turned over the keys of a multi-purpose building to the Group of ‘77 local chapter for its use.
The cost of the building, which is put at US$10,000, was constructed recently by the PMC to be used as multi-purpose structure by the disabled community in Bong County.
The Group of ’77 is the national umbrella organization established by government to oversee the welfare of persons physically challenged.
In remarks at the turnover ceremony in Gbarnga recently, the PMC Chairman, Mr. Steve J. Mulbah, disclosed that the building was constructed on the two lots of land purchased for the Group of ‘77 by the County in the Rubber Factory Community in Gbarnga.
Mulbah said the Government through his office will continue to undertake meaningful projects in the county, including roads, health facilities and public services, among others, as part of the CDC government’s Pro-Poor Agenda for Prosperity and Development.
Receiving the keys, the Bong County Coordinator of the Group Of ‘77,
Mr. Arthur Bondo, lauded the Government for its assistance to the disabled community in the county.
Bondo then called on Government, philanthropic organizations and well-meaning individuals to help provide office equipment, including furniture and computers, for his group.
He pointed out that the recently completed structure will be used for training, tailoring and other purposes that will provide job opportunities for people living with disability in the county.
Bondo also noted that the building will benefit over 3,000 people, including women and children.
On November 12, 2018, during the County Sitting, US$10,000 was allotted to empower the disabled community to accomplish some of its projects in the county.
