Rabat, 25/01/2023 (MAP) – High Commissioner for Planning Ahmed Lahlimi Alami and a Togolese delegation currently visiting the Kingdom met in Rabat on Wednesday to discuss ways of strengthening cooperation in the field of social protection and the orientation of the population.

On this occasion, Lahlimi and Gilbert Bawara, Togolese Minister of the Civil Service, Labour and Social Dialogue, highlighted the convergence of the orientations and approaches adopted by Morocco and Togo in the process of strengthening social inclusion and social protection, which constitutes a solid basis for strengthening cooperation between the two countries in this field.

Thus, Lahlimi recalled the context of accelerating the generalization of social protection for the benefit of the population, highlighting the efforts of the High Commission for Planning (HCP) in its contribution to the success of this real project for more inclusive growth.

The High Commissioner highlighted the various instruments adopted by the HCP to contribute to the improvement of the targeting of the population and the generalization of social protection to « those who truly deserve it », in order to ensure the rationalization of expenditure on population support and to achieve greater social justice.

For his part, Bawara expressed his country’s willingness to draw inspiration from Morocco’s achievements in strengthening social protection and from the Kingdom’s operational approach, which has achieved advanced results in the implementation of this project.

On this occasion, Bawara welcomed the solid and cooperative relations between the two countries and expressed his willingness to deepen exchanges on a number of aspects in the field of social protection, which poses a number of challenges, particularly in terms of targeting the population and the effectiveness of the various programs to support vulnerable people.
