Praia, Nov 11 (Inforpress) – U.S. Secretary of Labor Martin J. Walsh promised Friday in the City of Praia, when he returns to his country, to work with his Government to continue to strengthen ties with Cabo Verde.
The statement was made by the U.S. Secretary at a press conference on the sidelines of the inauguration of the President of the Republic, José Maria Neves, in which the U.S. Government was represented by a delegation composed, in addition to the Secretary of Labor, Martin J. Walsh, the Ambassador to Cabo Verde Jeff Daigle, and the member of the United States Congress, New York, Hakeem Jeffries.
“The relationship between the two countries is strong (…). I’m going to take what I heard to the White House today and work on existing relationships. We are strengthening ties and creating more opportunities on these islands,” he said.
Another issue addressed was the vaccine, in which he assured that the U.S. will contribute with more vaccines, because they found that the COVID-19 pandemic had a major impact in Cabo Verde.
