Accra, March 19, GNA – The Chief of the Defence Staff (CDS), Lieutenant General Obed Boamah Akwa, has inaugurated a Multipurpose Hall for the 4 Infantry Battalion (4BN) in Kumasi.
The OB Akwa Complex, the first of its kind in the Infantry Battalions of the Ghana Army, comprises a 400-capacity auditorium, Operations Room, Duty Officers’ Restroom, a Library, Wifi for internet accessibility, and washrooms.
The Hall was named after Lt Gen OB Akwa for his dedication to duty, which would also serve as an inspiration to both current and future officers.
Captain Christiana Osei-Duah, the Public Relations Officer at the Central Command, in a release copied to the Ghana News Agency, said the Hall was disability friendly and had an electronic security system for 24–hour surveillance.
Lt Col Sebastian Abraham Arhin, the Commanding Officer of the 4BN, said since assumption of office, the unit had undertaken lots of developmental projects to improve the welfare of personnel.
He mentioned the new Conference Hall for briefings, Civilian Employees Office Complex, Reception Hall for visitors, Sachet Water Production Factory and a Barbering Shop as some of the projects.
Lt. Col Arhin expressed profound gratitude to the past commanding officers who laid the foundation for the projects.
Lt. General Akwa, on his part, expressed appreciation for the honour done him and lauded the cordial relationship between the Regional authorities and the Armed Force.
He appealled to the unit to continue to nurture and grow the relationship, which, he said, was good for national development.
