Akim Oda (E/R), April 10, GNA – About 50 natives of Akim Oda in the Birim Central Municipality of the Eastern Region have presented Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) worth GHC37,500.00 to the Akim Oda Government Hospital to help fight the corona virus .
Mr Kwaku Attafuah, the Chief Executive Officer for Age-Aba Hotel at Akim Oda who led the presentation of the items, said as concern natives of Akim Oda, it was their social responsibility to help the town to survive the coronavirus pandemic, hence the donation.
The PPE included 13 facial shield, N95 nose mask, FFP2 nose mask, eight sanitiser dispensers, 20 shoe covers, 12 infra-red thermometers, 17 cartons of antiseptics, three face surgical masks and hand sanitisers.
Dr Grace Bediako, a former Government Statistician who was also part of the donors, called for an instantaneous intervention from all to help fight against the COVID-19.
Mr Alexander Akwasi Acquah, an aspiring Member of Parliament for Akim Oda Constituency, a member of the donors was pleased for the warm acceptance of the items on the part of the beneficiaries.
Dr Kofi Acquaah–Harrison, the Medical Superintendent of the Akim Oda Government Hospital, expressed gratitude to the donors for the kind gesture, and assured that they will use the items judiciously.
In order to ensure effective social distancing at the Akim Oda Government Hospital, Dr Acquaah- Harrison appealed for extension at the Out Patient Department (OPD) as it had limited space to contain a large number of patients.
Madam Victoria Adu, the Birim Central Municipal Chief Executive commended the effort of the donors.
