AngloGold Ashanti CEO Pays Farewell courtesy call on Asantehene

Accra, Aug. 25, GNA- The outgoing CEO of AngloGold Ashanti, Srinivasan Venkatrikrishnan (Venkat) has paid a farewell visit on the Asantehene, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, at his Palace, Manhyia.

The visit was to officially inform the Asantehene of his departure from the company after 18 years with the Company of which five years was as the CEO of the global mining giant.

He was accompanied by the Executive Vice President of Sustainability, David Noko, the Managing Director of AGAG, Eric Asubonteng, the Senior Manager, Sustainability of AGAG, Nana Ampofo-Bekoe and the Senior Manager of Security, Kofi Gamor.

This visit afforded Venkat the opportunity to express his personal gratitude and that of the company to the Asantehene for his immense support and guidance over the years, especially during his tenure as CEO of the company.

Venkat paid glowing tribute to the Asantehene whose guidance he said, greatly contributed to the achievements he chalked particularly with the Obuasi Mine in the face of many challenges.

« I am encouraged that through your guidance, and with the support of a strong Board and Management of AGA we have laid a strong foundation for continuity in rebuilding the Obuasi Mine into a world class mine and I have confidence that you will provide similar support to my successor, » he said.

The Asantehene wished Venkat the best in his future endeavours, assuring him that he will continue to offer the necessary pieces of advice towards the redevelopment of the Obuasi Mine.
