Sunyani, Feb.14, GNA – Ghanaians have been urged to patronise made-in-Ghana goods to boost the viability of local industries and advance national economic growth.
Mr. Seidu Iddrisu Yeboah, the Acting Bono Regional Director of the Centre for National Culture (CNC), gave the advice in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA).
He said the Ghanaian rich and diverse culture had huge prospects that must be exploited through “our unflinching patronage of the local goods and services.”
Mr. Yeboah said the national economy could be expanded if Ghanaians appreciated and patronised domestic products.
He urged the public and private institutions to patronize the locally-made products.
“Patronage and usage of indigenous products, including food and fabrics, would add value to our rich cultural heritage?and promote diversity and industrialization, push the local economy and further boost trade and industry”, he said.
Mr. Yeboah said the CNC had trained and empowered personnel to be deployed to the District and Municipal offices of the Centre in the region, saying “they have been taken through details of Akan languages, histories and dialect, culture, lineage and ethnicity to make their work relevant at the community level.”
He said language was a key element of culture which identified the dignity and true identity of the people, and advised Ghanaians to cherish and promote their local dialects that distinguished them as unique people with common destiny.
