South Dayi residents asked to support health workers to fight COVID-19

Peki (V/R), April 16, GNA – Mr Rockson Nelson Defeamekpor, Member of Parliament for South Dayi in the Volta Region, has called on the residents to collaborate with health workers in the District to limit the spread of COVID-19.
The MP said the fight against the novel coronavirus needed a concerted effort to win, thus the need for all to support health workers and others who were in the frontline to avoid the spread of the virus.
Mr Defeamekpor said this when he presented assorted items worth GHC45,000.00 to the South Dayi District Health Directorate in the Volta Region, in a bid to stem the spread of the coronavirus.
The items included 36 sets of Veronica buckets, 10 boxes of nose masks, packs of liquid soap, tissues, hand sanitizers and eight Non-Contact Infrared Thermometers.
The MP also provided 24 sets of Veronica buckets, packs of liquid soap, hand sanitizers and tissues to the 24 electoral areas in the District to be placed at vantage points in the areas to enable residents undertake regular hand washing to limit the spread of the virus.
Mr Defeamekpor called on the citizenry to support the government in its effort at preventing the spread of the virus in the country.
He urged the residents to adhere to the World Health Organization’s safety health protocols of social distancing, washing hands regularly with soap under running water, and avoiding social gatherings among others.
The MP also advised residents who could not afford Veronica buckets to construct tipping taps in homes to enable them observe the protocol of regular hand washing with soap under running water to prevent the spread of the disease.
Madam Patience Nunoo, the District Health Director, was grateful to the MP for the support, saying the items arrived at the right time as they were running out of stock.
She said her outfit was educating the people in the various communities on the dangers of the pandemic and the need for them to observe the health safety protocols to limit the spread of the disease.
