Four Division One teams book Women’s Premier League qualification

Accra, July 22, GNA – Four Division One teams have been promoted to the Ghana Women’s Premier League (WPL) after excelling in the Northern and Southern Zone of the 2022 Women’s Regional Zonal Championship.

The teams are Candy Soccer Academy, Tamale Super Ladies, Essiam Socrates FC and Ridge City FC Women put up their best in their respective zones to book qualification to the 2022/2023 WPL.

Candy Soccer Academy finished as winners in the Northern Zone with Tamale Super Ladies who finished as runner-ups.

In the Southern Zone, Essiam Socrates proved to be the owners of the Southern Zone after beating Blessed Ladies by a lone goal to book first place while Ridge City FC also picked up the second spot.

Candy Soccer Academy and Tamale Super Ladies would now compete with the likes of Ampem Darkoa Ladies, who are league champions, Pearl Pia Ladies, Fabulous Ladies, Dreamz Ladies, Ashtown Ladies, Prisons Ladies and Supreme Ladies next season.

The Southern Zone would also have Essiam Socrates and Ridge City FC battle record holders, Hasaacas Ladies, Army Ladies, Faith Ladies, Police Ladies, Lady Strikers, Thunder Queens and Berry Ladies.

The 2022/2023 Women’s Premier League, which would begin October 28 to 30,2022 is expected to be very competitive next season as these new faces are poised for action.

The premier league over the past seasons has witnessed debutants proving to be on top form, in reference to the performance of southern zone side Army Ladies who finished fifth last season and also sailed through the semi-finals of the Women’s FA Cup.
