Government move forward in the updating legislation on production and import of plastics in 2022

Praia, Nov 24 (Inforpress) – The Government plans to updating legislation on production and import of plastics in the first half of 2022 with a focus on strengthening recycling initiatives in Cabo Verde and stricter legislation.
The information was announced by the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Gilberto Silva, on the sidelines of a visit he made on Tuesday to Caboplast, to know ‘on site’ everything the company has done over the years and the projects it has in the field of plastic recycling.
“The Government will support everything has to do with recycling, but in the areas of plastics we will say that we will update existing legislation to not only stricter the issue of the import of plastics, but also discipline a little more what has been the marketing and use of plastics in Cabo Verde”, he said.
According to the Minister, the Government intends to submit the package which is already in the final part of its preparation in the first half of next year, considering that it is, therefore, a legislation with several aspects developed.
