GBARNGA Aug. 3  (LINA) – A local charity organization, Girls And Children Empowerment Foundation (GACEF), based in Monrovia has made a donation of several food and non-food items to four orphanages in Bong County.

GACEF also made similar donation to the Leprosy Colony located in Suakoko District which covered a total of over 600 needy children in the county.

The materials included ten 25kg bags of rice, five gallons of vegetable oil, several packs of season cubes and nose masks, among others, worth over US$500.

Making the presentation of the materials to the beneficiaries over the weekend, the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of GACEF, Mr. Asher Z. Blah, said his organization was established to provide aid to needy children, including girls, so they can grow up to be meaningful people in society.

Mr. Blah added that GACEF also provides skill training, including tailoring, for needy children as a way of making them self-reliant in society.

The CEO called on other humanitarian organizations to support his dream in order to help government alleviate constraints the country is faced with.

Also speaking at the ceremony, the Executive Director of GACEF, Madam Konah Marie Johnson, encouraged girl children to take their lessons seriously in order to prepare for future challenges.

Madam Johnson noted that girls become sex slaves, especially when they have no education or skill training that will help to improve their lives.

She pledged her organization’s commitment to providing more support to needy children in the country.

Meanwhile, the beneficiaries of the donation, including the Director of Rainbow Town Orphanage located in the Lofa Road Community in Gbarnga, Mother Feta Namie, lauded GACEF for its humanitarian gesture and called for more support for the organization.

« The materials will be used for the intended purpose,” she assured.

Mother Namie put the total amount of children at her home to 72 orphans whom she said are also benefiting education opportunity.

Other beneficiaries, including Arthur Bondo, Bong County Coordinator of the Group of 77 and Mr. Samuel Paye Director of Feleta Children Village, among others, lauded the efforts of GACEF, saying the donation has motivated them to be more motivated to enhance a better future for Liberia.
