COVID-19: African Mining Services support Municipal Health Directorate
Awhitieso (W/R), Aug. 3, GNA – African Mining Services (AMS) Ghana has donated Personal Protective Equipment (PPEs ) to the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipal Health Directorate to help curb the spread of the coronavirus pandemic.
The items include 100 bottles of alcohol-based hand sanitizers, 60 pieces of disposable gowns, 1,500 pieces of surgical nose masks, 1,000 pieces of N95 nose masks and 100 pieces of face shields.
Mr Joseph Abubaka, the Operations Manager for (AMS) Ghana, who made the presentation, said it was time to cooperate with institutions and individuals to support the government in the battle against novel Coronavirus.
« It is obviously clear that the government cannot do this alone as there is the need for us to put our hands on deck to supplement government’s effort in preventing the spread of the deadly disease, » he said.
He said health workers would go about their duties with confidence if they had enough PPEs in their efforts to address suspected cases and treat COVID-19 patients.
« Many of our employees live within the Municipality and access some of these health facilities so we are all exposed to some level of risk, hence AMS Ghana saw it as a duty to assist health workers to discharge their duties properly, » Mr Abubaka stated.
The Municipal Director of Health, Mrs Caroline Effah Otoo, commended AMS Ghana for providing the items and said it would go a long way to help in the fight against the virus.
Mrs Otoo appealed to institutions and philanthropists to support the health facilities in the Tarkwa-Nsuaem Municipality to be on the top of COVID-19 cases in the Western Region.
Mr Benjamin Kessie, Municipal Chief Executive, expressed appreciation to the donors and called on the citizenry to observe the safety protocols.
