Accra, Nov 02, GNA – Beach Soccer Ghana (BSG) has launched the 2018 Cal Bank Super Cup in Accra.
This year’s Cal Bank Super Cup, would begin from November 10 to December 02, with 16 teams from four regions competing for the ultimate.
Mr. George Darko, Deputy Technical Director of Beach Soccer Ghana explained that, the invited participants would be grouped into two zones (Zone A and B).
He said Zone A, would constitute eight teams from the Volta Region and the Greater Accra Region whilst the Zone B, would constitute teams from Western and Central Regions.
The top two teams from each zone would qualify automatically to play in the in the semi-finals of the Super Cup in Accra, on December 02.
Mr. Yaw Ampofo Ankrah, President of (BSG) said, Beach soccer was not dead, but needed a long break to restructure and to repackage itself.
He said the BSG was in talks with the Ghana Football Association (GFA) for Beach Soccer to join the Assocaition.
He added that, the upcoming Super Cup was an indication that Beach soccer was still alive and would travel far with the needed support.
Mr. Kofi Siabi, Head of Marketing at Cal Bank said, his outfit had been proud to sponsor Beach Soccer over the period, adding that, Cal Bank would continue to invest and support beach soccer.
« We have invested in Beach Soccer by exposing it to the Ghanaian public. Our objective has always been to build beech soccer into a very competitive, exciting tournament where Ghanaians would see the value in beach soccer, » Mr Siabi said.
« We have a wide shoreline across the country and a wide pool of talents, so the best thing to do is to invest in it and build the institutions to govern the sport. And by that, we should be able to go far and compete in the world, » he stated.
