Sunyani, Sept.14, GNA – Ghanaians, particularly the youth have been urged to continue to observe the COVID-19 protocols to help reduce the increasing new cases and the death toll.
Dr Prince Quarshie, the Acting Bono Regional Deputy Director of Health in-charge of Public Health appealed in an interview with the Ghana News Agency (GNA) in Sunyani and emphasised the need for strict compliance with the preventive protocols, especially handwashing with soap under running, wearing of nose masks and the use of hand sanitizers.
Dr Quarshie also appealed to politicians, traditional, religious, and opinion leaders to join the campaign for the enforcement of the protocols and directives, and added that the disease was seriously affecting the social and economic lives of individuals and families.
He said the current COVID-19 situation in the region was very alarming, saying the life of everyone was at risk because from January to the end of August this year, the region had recorded 1,405 cases including 45 actives.
Dr Quarshie added since the beginning of the outbreak to the end of August this year, the region had recorded accumulative cases of 2,047 and 77 deaths including three people in their thirties.
He said some patients were reporting to the health facilities without the known symptoms of the COVID-19 but they were being diagnosed with having the disease.
Dr Quarshie, therefore, advised the public not to disregard the safety protocols of the pandemic because the virus’ changing signs and symptoms were posing great danger and also killing a lot of people.
