Accra Juvenile Centre gets support

Accra, April 30, GNA- The Van Moorhouse Foundation (VMF), a Charity Organisation has donated some essential items to the Juvenile Unit of the Ghana Prisons Service in Accra in its bid to help combat the outbreak of the Coronavirus.

Some of the items included alcohol based hand sanitizers which were produced by the VMF medical team, boxes of toothbrush and toothpaste, bags of mineral water, boxes of soap, toilet rolls and non-surgical face masks for the warders.
The item are expected to ensure the safety of the juvenile offenders and officers in order to maintain good hygiene at the facility.

Presenting the items on behalf of VMF, Mr Michael K. Darkwah, the Country Director said « just like everyone being concerned about their immediate family and friends during this uncertain period, VMF is also concerned about the wellbeing of these young offenders and it is part of our Social Responsibility to contribute to the fight against Coronavirus, hence the donation ».

He said « We are hopeful that these items would help the inmates and reduce the risk at the centre during these trying times.”

Receiving the items on behalf of the Juvenile Centre, the Assistant Director of Prisons (AGP) David Ofosu Addo expressed his appreciation to the VMF team for the support, “ on behalf of the Regional Commander, I want to thank VMF for their support and kind gesture during this hard times. We’re very grateful that these items came at the right time and would like to encourage other organisations and individuals to emulate VMF ».

The Country Director of VMF, Mr Darkwah in an interview said, this gesture represents donations from the VMF family and friends, and used the opportunity to thank everyone who was involved with the work of VMF directly or indirectly.

He also thanked Hydrate Ghana Ltd, producers of HiDrate Natural Mineral Water. Signature Creations, Fan milk Ghana Ltd, Drinks and Opener, for coming through to support them on such short notice and also urged other corporate organisations as well as individuals to support VMF through collaboration and partnership.
The Van Moorhouse Foundation is a non-profit UK based organization with branches in the US and Ghana established to promote better a life for vulnerable individuals and families within impoverish communities.
