MONROVIA, Aug. 11 (LINA) – The Presiding Judge of Criminal “E”, Judge Serena Garlawolu, has called on Court Officers to observe the health protocols put in place by authorities in the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic.
On account of this, the court held no official opening program due to the Coronavirus to enable all observe social distancing and other measures announced by health authorities.
Also, all assignments will be made in the Office of the Clerk of Court, while all Counselors and Attorneys-at-law, all along with party litigants, should always wear masks, wash their hands and observe social distancing with the confines of the court.
Judge Garlawolu delivered her charge on Monday at the brief and sparsely attended joint and formal opening of the August Term AD 2020 of criminal Courts “A” “B” “C” “D” and “E” at the Temple of Justice on Capitol Hill in Monrovia.
The program lasted for just under 30 minutes, and there was serious social distancing in the Court, with not too many people setting to together in the court.
Usually, during the opening of courts, responses to the Judge’s charge come from head of Public Defenders, Prosecution teams, Liberia Anti- Corruption Commission, and Head of the Jury Department, but because of the pandemic no group was allowed to speak.
Meanwhile, Judge Garlawolu has called on all Judicial Staff to uphold the health protocols within Courts facilities.
