Electrician in court over alleged electrical cables theft

Accra, Sept 21, GNA – An electrician, arrested over alleged theft of electrical cables costing about GH?10,000.00, has appeared before a Kumasi Circuit Court to answer for his crime.
Mohammed Abdulai Abanga, 20, denied the offence and he was granted GH?15,000.00 bail with two sureties to be justified.
The court, presided over by Mr. Ekow Mensah, ordered him to make his next appearance on October 01.
The accused is said to have stolen the cables from his employers – Workson Electrical Company, located at Ohwimase, in Kumasi.
His accomplish, also an employee of the company, whose name was only given as Francis is on the run.
Police Chief Inspector Timothy Amoako told the court that the theft was detected on Wednesday, August 08.
One of the workers found that one drum of electrical cables left at the company’s Atwima-Techiman work site was missing and informed the Supervisor, Mr. Kwabena Acheampong.
A meeting was quickly held with all the workers, where Abanga reportedly confessed to stealing the cables and claimed to have given the stolen cables to Francis.
The prosecution said he was arrested and handed over to the police at Denchemuoso. He admitted the crime in his caution statement.
