Marrakech, 10/02/2023 (MAP) – The Mohammed VI International Boxing Trophy contributes to the development of this sport not only in Morocco but also in Africa, and to strengthening the place of this discipline on the world sports scene, said Friday in Marrakech, president of the International Boxing Federation (IBF), Umar Kremlev.

Speaking at a press conference before the closing of this international sporting event, organized under the High Patronage of His Majesty King Mohammed VI, Kremlev said that this event marked by the participation of the best amateur pugilists at the international level contributes to the development of this sport, considered as an art and a culture that can strengthen the capabilities of young people and enable them to acquire the fundamentals of life (morals, discipline, …)

IBF president also welcomed the exceptional organization of this international event, which was a real sports festival to celebrate boxing stars in search of experience and titles, considering that the Moroccan pugilists participating in this 6th edition of the Trophy had the opportunity to improve their performance and strengthen their techniques, which will contribute to the promotion of this sport in Morocco and, therefore, at continental and international levels.

For his part, chairman of the Royal Moroccan Boxing Federation (FRMB), Abdeljaouad Belhaj, said that the 6th edition of the Mohammed VI International Boxing Trophy represents a global event of great importance for its exceptional organization and the quality and participation of 204 high-level boxers (men and women) representing 34 countries.

This event, which will be held annually in a Moroccan city in accordance with the agreement concluded until 2025 between the FIB and the FRMB, helps to raise the level of the practice of this sport at the national level, especially in terms of training of coaches and athletes.
