Accra, June 2, GNA – Christian Aid Ghana has organised a workshop to help People with Disability (PWDs) to develop skills and be financially equipped in handling their businesses.

The workshop was organised in collaboration with National Board for Small Scale Industries (NBSSI) to facilitate the acquisition of skills by the PWDs in some selected municipalities in the Greater Accra and Western regions to manage their businesses effectively.

Madam Philomena Dsane, the Greater Accra Regional Manager of NBSSI, said participants were trained in Record Keeping and Sales and Debtors Book Management among other topics.

She said beneficiaries were also trained in vocations such as soap and beads making.

It would also be organised for another section of the youth to learn welding and craftsmanship, decorations and electronic gadget repairs and the Gratis Foundation would help in this endeavour.

Madam Dsane said beneficiaries would be given start-up equipment and kits like welding machines, welding masks, protective clothing, and welding goggles.

Mr Jonathan Mensah, the Christian Aid Representative, said the organisation believed that poverty had to be eliminated and that could be achieved through special trainings like this.

He called on stakeholders to get on board to help the PWDs in the various communities to make a living in order not to beg on the streets.
