Espargos, Feb 11 (Inforpress) – The Prime Minister, Ulisses Correia e Silva, said Tuesday that the first phase of the wastewater sanitation system in the city of Espargos, inaugurated Tuesday, put the Sal as an island with health security.
The inauguration of the infrastructure, chaired by the head of the Government, and witnessed by the Minister of Agriculture and Environment, Gilberto Silva, and by the Mayor of Sal, Júlio Lopes, is the result of the loan agreement signed by the Government and the Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA), in the amount of five million dollars (about 460 billion escudos).
“The sanitation system is important, not only for the work itself, for its usefulness, but for the concept of putting Sal as an island with health security (…), with attractive and sustainable conditions”, said the Prime Minister, underlining the need for people to have access to the basics, which is sanitation, water, energy at home, an opinion shared by Júlio Lopes.
“It is a great gift, because in a modern world, in a country that has ambition, that wants to project itself in terms of tourism and wants to provide quality of life and protect people’s health, sanitation is essential”, considered the mayor of Sal.
